The Sun Hydraulics A3D (Material Number: A3D) is a specialized manifold designed for use with solenoid-operated and electroproportional cartridges. It features extra material around the cavity to provide coil clearance, along with the spotface required for Sun's weatherized coil. This line-mount body type accepts both standard and weatherized coils at a ninety-degree angle, ensuring versatile application in various hydraulic systems. The manifold includes 11 mounting holes with a diameter of 0.34 inches (8.6 mm), drilled through for secure installation, and accommodates 11 open cavities of type T13A. The port size is specified as 34 NPTF, providing compatibility with standard hydraulic connections. Constructed from 6061T651 aluminum, the manifold offers excellent corrosion resistance while being relatively strong and cost-effective. Despite its robust construction, Sun Hydraulics opts not to anodize their aluminum bodies due to potential drawbacks such as increased cost, logistical challenges, consistency issues in appearance, and reduced fatigue life due to the brittle nature of anodized surfaces.
