The Sun Hydraulics CBABCHV (CBABCHV) is a sophisticated counterbalance valve designed with pilot assist to effectively manage overrunning loads in hydraulic systems. This valve facilitates free flow from the directional valve port to the load port through a check valve, while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve modulates flow from port to port. The CBABCHV model is engineered for precise load control, capable of being set at least 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure to ensure optimal performance. It features an adjustable setting mechanism where turning the adjustment clockwise decreases the setting and releases the load, with full clockwise settings achieving less than 350 psi (24 bar). The design incorporates backpressure at one port which adds to the effective relief setting in conjunction with the pilot ratio. Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
  • Restrictive valves have no relief capacity other than as a thermal relief.
  • Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
