The Sun Hydraulics CBABLBN (CBABLBN) is a meticulously designed counterbalance valve with pilot assist, engineered to manage overrunning loads effectively. This valve features a check valve that permits free flow from the directional valve port to the load port, while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve regulates flow from port to port. The inclusion of pilot assist at a specific port significantly reduces the effective setting of the relief valve based on the pilot ratio. This model is optimized for settings at least 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure, ensuring robust performance under varying pressures. It includes an adjustment feature where turning clockwise decreases the setting and releases the load, with full clockwise settings going below 350 psi (24 bar). Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
  • Restrictive valves have no relief capacity other than as a thermal relief.
