The Sun Hydraulics CBBDCDN (CBBDCDN) is a counterbalance valve with pilot assist designed to manage overrunning loads efficiently. This product features a check valve that permits free flow from the directional valve port to the load port while controlling flow from port to port through a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve. The relief valve's effective setting can be adjusted by pilot assist at a specific port, which lowers the setting based on the pilot ratio. This valve is engineered to be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure, providing robust performance in various hydraulic applications. The adjustment mechanism allows for precise control by turning clockwise to decrease the setting and release load, with the full clockwise setting being less than 350 psi (24 bar). Additionally, backpressure at one of the ports adds to the effective relief setting in a compounded manner determined by both the backpressure and pilot ratio. Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
  • Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
  • Full clockwise setting is less than 200 psi (14 bar).
