The Sun Hydraulics CBBGLDV (CBBGLDV) is a counterbalance valve designed to control an overrunning load effectively. This valve incorporates a check valve that allows free flow from the directional valve port to the load port, while flow from port to port is controlled by a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve. The pilot assist feature at port decreases the effective setting of the relief valve based on the pilot ratio, enhancing the operational flexibility and response of the system. The CBBGLDV should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure to ensure optimal performance and safety. The valve features adjustable settings, which can be altered by turning the adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load, with a full clockwise setting maintaining less than 350 psi (24 bar). Additionally, backpressure at port contributes to the effective relief setting in conjunction with the pilot ratio. Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
