The Sun Hydraulics CBDCCIN (CBDCCIN) is a meticulously engineered counterbalance valve designed to manage overrunning loads effectively in hydraulic systems. This valve incorporates a check valve that permits free flow from port 2 to port 1, facilitating the smooth operation of hydraulic actuators. The key feature of the CBDCCIN is its direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief mechanism which regulates flow from port 1 to port 2. This pilot assist at port 3 significantly reduces the effective setting of the relief valve depending on the pilot ratio, enhancing control and responsiveness. With a robust design tailored for high-pressure applications, the CBDCCIN can handle up to 4000 psi (280 bar) with a maximum recommended load pressure of 3075 psi (215 bar). It has an adjustable setting mechanism where turning the adjustment clockwise decreases the setting, allowing for precise load release management. The valve's reseat capability exceeds 85% of set pressure under standard settings, ensuring reliable operation and minimal leakage which is critical in maintaining system efficiency and safety. Installation flexibility is another hallmark of this model. The CBDCCIN can be directly installed into machined cavities within actuator housings, improving circuit stiffness and protecting the valve from external elements. It supports a flow capacity up to 20 gpm (80 L/min), making it versatile for various hydraulic applications. Additionally, Sun Hydraulics' unique floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding which could occur due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, thereby ensuring consistent performance and longevity. This model is interchangeable with all three-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges within the same frame size, simplifying system upgrades or replacements without extensive modifications. With positive seals between all ports and options for different check valve cracking pressures, this valve stands out as a reliable component in complex hydraulic systems where precise motion control and operational reliability are paramount.

Counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio.
Other names for this valve include motion control valve and over center valve.
- Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
- Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
- Full clockwise setting is less than 200 psi (14 bar).
- Backpressure at port 2 adds to the effective relief setting at a ratio of 1 plus the pilot ratio times the backpressure.
- Reseat exceeds 85% of set pressure when the valve is standard set. Settings lower than the standard set pressure may result in lower reseat percentages.
- Sun counterbalance cartridges can be installed directly into a cavity machined in an actuator housing for added protection and improved stiffness in the circuit.
- Two check valve cracking pressures are available. Use the 25 psi (1,7 bar) check unless actuator cavitation is a concern.
- This valve has positive seals between all ports.
- All 3-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
