The Sun Hydraulics CCEACHV (CCEACHV) is a counterbalance valve designed to manage the control of overrunning loads in hydraulic systems without the need for pilot assist, which has been internally nullified. This model operates by allowing free flow from the directional valve port 2 to the load port 1 via a check valve, while a direct-acting relief valve manages flow from port 1 to port 2. It is crucial that these valves be set at a minimum of 1.3 times the maximum load-induced pressure to ensure proper function and safety. The CCEACHV features an adjustment mechanism where turning clockwise will decrease the setting and release the load, with a full clockwise setting being less than 200 psi (14 bar). The absence of pilot assist in this model promotes machine stability by maintaining a zero pilot ratio, although this can come at the cost of efficiency. The valve's design includes Sun's floating style construction which helps minimize internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or variances in cavity/cartridge machining. For installations, Sun counterbalance cartridges can be directly integrated into cavities machined within an actuator housing, enhancing protection and circuit stiffness. The CCEACHV is designed for applications requiring precise control over hydraulic flow and pressure, with capabilities suited for various hydraulic machinery that handles overrunning loads. This model supports up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) capacity and can withstand maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), with factory pressure settings established at very low flow rates for precision. Additionally, this valve model offers two check valve cracking pressures to accommodate different application needs regarding actuator cavitation concerns. Its robust design ensures reliable operation under diverse conditions and maintains high reseat performance exceeding 85% of set pressure under standard settings.

Counterbalance valves without pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2.

  • Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
  • Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
  • Full clockwise setting is less than 200 psi (14 bar).
  • These valves are modified versions of our pilot assisted counterbalance valves. The pilot assist area has been nullified internally. There is no connection to port 3.
  • Backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the relief setting of the valve.
  • Lower pilot ratios (pilot gain) promote machine stability. This valve has a pilot ratio of zero. Stability is gained at the expense of efficiency.
  • Reseat exceeds 85% of set pressure when the valve is standard set. Settings lower than the standard set pressure may result in lower reseat percentages.
  • Sun counterbalance cartridges can be installed directly into a cavity machined in an actuator housing for added protection and improved stiffness in the circuit.
  • Two check valve cracking pressures are available. Use the 25 psi (1,7 bar) check unless actuator cavitation is a concern.
  • All 3-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
