The Sun Hydraulics CCGACHV (CCGACHV) is a precisely engineered counterbalance valve designed to manage the control of overrunning loads in hydraulic systems. This model, part of the T-17A cavity series, offers robust performance with a capacity to handle up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). It features a unique zero pilot ratio which enhances machine stability at the cost of efficiency, making it particularly suitable for applications where stability is critical. The valve operates with a maximum setting of 4000 psi (280 bar) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Key operational characteristics include an adjustment mechanism that allows for nearly 3.75 turns counterclockwise to increase the setting, facilitating precise control over hydraulic flow and pressure. The CCGACHV incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction, which minimizes potential internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This design consideration ensures reliable and consistent performance even under challenging conditions. The valve's check function allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking reverse flow until sufficient pilot pressure is applied, ensuring efficient operation and safety. Additionally, it features factory-established pressure settings at a flow rate of 2 in³/min (30 cc/min), and its reseat capability exceeds 85% of the set pressure under standard conditions. For installation and maintenance ease, the CCGACHV has specific torque requirements; valve installation should be between 150-160 lbf·ft (203-217 Nm), with locknut adjustments defined at 80-90 lbf·in (9-10 Nm). It also supports various seal kit options like Viton for enhanced durability against fluid and temperature extremes. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CCGACHV counterbalance valve is an essential component for hydraulic systems requiring precise load control without pilot assistance, offering high reliability and stability in managing mechanical motion.

Counterbalance valves without pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2.
- Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
- Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
- Full clockwise setting is less than 200 psi (14 bar).
- These valves are modified versions of our pilot assisted counterbalance valves. The pilot assist area has been nullified internally. There is no connection to port 3.
- Backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the relief setting of the valve.
- Lower pilot ratios (pilot gain) promote machine stability. This valve has a pilot ratio of zero. Stability is gained at the expense of efficiency.
- Reseat exceeds 85% of set pressure when the valve is standard set. Settings lower than the standard set pressure may result in lower reseat percentages.
- All 3-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Sun counterbalance cartridges can be installed directly into a cavity machined in an actuator housing for added protection and improved stiffness in the circuit.
- Two check valve cracking pressures are available. Use the 25 psi (1,7 bar) check unless actuator cavitation is a concern.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
