The Sun Hydraulics CCIACHV (CCIACHV) is a counterbalance valve designed to control an overrunning load effectively, without the aid of pilot assist. This valve features a check valve that permits free flow from the directional valve port 2 to the load port 1, with a direct-acting relief valve managing flow in the opposite direction. The CCIACHV model is engineered for stability over efficiency, offering a pilot ratio of zero which enhances machine stability at the expense of efficiency. This model has been internally modified to nullify the pilot assist area and eliminate connections to port 3. Constructed for high performance and reliability, the CCIACHV can handle a maximum flow capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min) and withstands a maximum operating pressure up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Its relief setting can reach up to 4000 psi (280 bar), with factory pressure settings established at a flow rate of 2 in³/min (30 cc/min). Adjustments are made by turning clockwise to decrease settings and release load, with full clockwise settings dropping below 200 psi (14 bar). Counterbalance valves without pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2.
- Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
- Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
- Full clockwise setting is less than 200 psi (14 bar).
- These valves are modified versions of our pilot assisted counterbalance valves. The pilot assist area has been nullified internally. There is no connection to port 3.
- Backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the relief setting of the valve.

- All 3-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
