The Sun Hydraulics CKCAEZN (CKCAEZN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow reversal and load holding capabilities. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction. Activation of the valve is achieved through pressure at pilot port 3, which allows flow from port 1 to port 2 when opened. The amount of pilot pressure required at port 3 is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, with opposing pressure at port 2. This model features a Delrin seat, making it suitable for systems that may encounter medium levels of contamination and operate under medium pressure, though not under high flow or temperature conditions. It boasts extremely low leakage characteristics; however, any observed load drift might indicate seat damage due to contamination, necessitating valve replacement. The standard unsealed pilot design aids in purging trapped air from the pilot line, enhancing system reliability. For specific configurations, external piloting can be facilitated via optional external ports out of the hex end of the cartridge—this setup blocks port 3 as per Control options E and P. The CKCAEZN incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It has a maximum operating capacity of 15 gpm/60 L/min and can handle pressures up to 2500 psi/175 bar. The pilot ratio stands at a versatile range between 3:1 to 4:1 depending on series variations. Each unit weighs approximately .20 lb/0.10 kg and features standardized Viton seals for enhanced durability under varied environmental conditions. This valve is primarily intended for applications where hose break protection is critical and where positive locking of pressurized loads is required without controlling motion, making it ideal for use in mobile hydraulics and industrial machinery that require reliable load holding without motion control functionalities.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is non-vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the pilot (port 3) will open the valve, allowing flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed at port 3 to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Pressure at port 2 directly opposes pilot pressure.

  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve and 3 port counterbalance valves are physically interchangeable (i.e. same cavities, same flow path for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Optional external porting out of the hex end of the cartridge is available for external piloting. In this configuration, port 3 is blocked. See Control options E, and P.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • For models with manual load release control option, turn load release clockwise to release load.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
