The Sun Hydraulics CKCESCN (CKCESCN) is a specialized hydraulic valve designed for specific applications within hydraulic systems. This pilot-to-open check valve facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction, ensuring efficient operation and safety in hydraulic circuits. The valve operates with a sealed pilot and features a Delrin seat, suitable for medium pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. It also incorporates venting through port 3, which makes it insensitive to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing this vent. This model provides critical hose break protection, preventing load drifting and securely locking pressurized loads. Its design ensures extremely low leakage rates; however, if leakage occurs due to load drift, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating valve replacement. Notably, the CKCESCN is engineered with Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes potential internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), the CKCESCN is robust for various applications. The pilot ratio is set at 3:1, ensuring that pilot pressure required to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. This model also features a specific installation torque range of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm) and comes with a Viton seal kit option for enhanced performance under different operational conditions. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKCESCN offers reliable performance in systems requiring precise check valve functionality with additional benefits like hose break protection and low leakage characteristics. Its design considerations ensure that it meets rigorous operational demands while maintaining system integrity and safety.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
