The Sun Hydraulics CKCESDV (CKCESDV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load-holding and hose break protection capabilities. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, ensuring responsiveness and control over the valve's operation. The CKCESDV features a Delrin seat, making it suitable for medium-pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination, as Delrin can tolerate dirt better than harder seat materials without significant leakage. The valve's design includes a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage, which is particularly beneficial in applications where such leakage could lead to system inefficiencies or safety concerns. Moreover, the valve incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes potential internal binding caused by installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, enhancing its operational reliability and lifespan. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min), the CKCESDV is equipped to handle substantial hydraulic loads. It also features an extremely low leakage rate, crucial for maintaining system integrity and performance. The pilot ratio of 3:1 ensures that the valve opens efficiently under appropriate pilot pressures but remains securely closed under adverse conditions, thereby preventing unintended load drifts. This model's specific configuration makes it non-interchangeable with other three-port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to its unique pilot-vent arrangement, necessitating careful consideration during system design or replacement processes. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKCESDV offers robust performance for hydraulic systems requiring precise load control and safety against hose failures.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
