The Sun Hydraulics CKCESFV (CKCESFV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for advanced fluid control in hydraulic systems. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in various applications. The valve's operation is influenced by pressure at an external pilot port, which opens the pathway from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure to open the valve is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it a reliable component in maintaining system stability. Sun Hydraulics has equipped the CKCESFV with a Delrin seat, suitable for medium-pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination; however, it is not ideal for high flows or temperatures. The design includes a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage and features extremely low leakage characteristics, enhancing system reliability. Additionally, this model provides hose break protection and prevents load drifting, effectively locking pressurized loads. This valve also incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It's important to note that this specific model is not interchangeable with other 3-port pilot-to-open check valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration. The CKCESFV operates with a maximum capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and can withstand pressures up to 2500 psi (175 bar). Its compact design weighs just 0.20 lbs (0.10 kg), and it requires an installation torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm). This makes it not only effective but also easy to integrate into existing hydraulic systems where space and weight might be constraints.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
