The Sun Hydraulics CKCEVCN (CKCEVCN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This 3-port valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, ensuring a positive seal between these ports. It operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, with a Delrin seat that makes it suitable for medium-pressure systems that may contain some level of contamination. This valve's design includes a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage could be problematic. The pilot-to-open mechanism serves as a locking feature, although it is not intended for motion control applications; counterbalance valves are recommended for those needs. The valve's insensitivity to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3 adds to its robustness in various operational scenarios. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi and capable of handling up to 15 gpm, the CKCEVCN is equipped to manage significant hydraulic loads. It also features extremely low leakage characteristics, critical in maintaining system integrity and preventing load drift. If drifting occurs due to valve issues, typically this indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating valve replacement. This model’s construction incorporates Sun’s floating style design which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The specific cavity required for this valve is T11A, and when installing, an optimal torque of between 30 – 35 lbf ft should be applied. This product weighs approximately 0.20 lbs and utilizes Viton seals for enhanced performance durability under various conditions.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
