The Sun Hydraulics CKCEVEV (CKCEVEV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load at port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It operates with a sealed pilot and features a Delrin seat, making it suitable for applications in dirty, medium-pressure systems not subjected to high flows or temperatures. The valve's operation is influenced by pressure at an external pilot port which opens the valve from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, ensuring efficient functioning even with varying loads. Notably, this valve is vented, referencing the spring chamber to vent port 3, which makes it insensitive to pressure at port 2 and helps maintain stability in the system. Designed with a positive seal between ports 2 and 3, the CKCEVEV incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding—a common issue due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model has a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and can handle flow rates up to 15 gpm (60 L/min). The pilot ratio of this unit is set at 3:1, ensuring precise control over opening pressures relative to load pressures. This valve also provides extremely low leakage characteristics; however, if any drift occurs due to valve issues, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating replacement of the valve. It's important to note that this specific model should be considered for service replacements only as new applications are recommended to use valves from Sun Hydraulics' CVV family due to updated features and configurations.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
