The Sun Hydraulics CKCEVFN (CKCEVFN) is a high-performance pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the opposite direction, ensuring stability and safety in hydraulic operations. The valve's operation is enhanced by a sealed pilot that prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage could lead to system inefficiencies or safety concerns. Featuring a Delrin seat, the CKCEVFN is particularly suited for medium pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination but not high flows or temperatures. This seat material choice provides durability while maintaining a seal in less than ideal conditions, which minimizes leakage substantially. The valve's design incorporates Sun Hydraulics’ floating style construction which reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to installation torque variations or cavity/cartridge machining discrepancies. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min), the CKCEVFN is equipped to handle significant hydraulic loads efficiently. Its pilot ratio of 3:1 ensures that pilot pressure needed to open the valve is effectively proportional to the load pressure at port 1, enhancing its operational reliability across various pressure ranges. This 3-port valve also features venting capabilities that reference port 3, ensuring it remains insensitive to backpressure from port 2. This characteristic helps maintain consistent performance even under varying system pressures. The specific configuration of this model means it isn’t interchangeable with other similar valves, necessitating careful selection based on application requirements. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKCEVFN offers robust performance for hydraulic systems requiring precise control over load holding and directional flow, making it an essential component for enhancing system safety and efficiency.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
