The Sun Hydraulics CKCEVFV (CKCEVFV) is a highly specialized hydraulic valve designed for specific applications requiring controlled flow and load holding. This pilot-to-open check valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring operational security and efficiency in systems where reverse flow must be prevented. The valve features a sealed pilot and a Delrin seat, enhancing its suitability for medium pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. The CKCEVFV is vented, which makes it insensitive to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing the vent port 3. This design detail allows for the maintenance of system integrity even under varying pressures. The valve’s operation requires pilot pressure proportional to the load pressure at port 1, providing precise control over the opening function based on external conditions. This model also offers hose break protection and prevents load drifting, which is critical in maintaining system stability and preventing accidents or system failures due to unexpected pressure drops or hose failures. The low leakage characteristic of this valve is particularly beneficial in applications where fluid conservation and avoiding contamination are priorities. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi and a capacity of up to 15 gpm, the CKCEVFV can handle significant system demands making it suitable for a variety of industrial applications. Additionally, its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design which minimizes potential internal binding caused by installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge setup. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKCEVFV offers robust performance for systems requiring reliable check functionalities with enhanced control features tailored for medium-pressure environments that may experience some level of contamination.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
