The Sun Hydraulics CKCFSBN (CKCFSBN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring dependable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, which means the pressure needed to open the valve increases with an increase in load pressure. The design includes a sealed pilot, ensuring minimal cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage is undesirable. With a steel seat and vented construction, this valve references the spring chamber to vent port 3, making it insensitive to backpressure from port 2. This characteristic helps maintain system stability and prevents unintended operation due to fluctuating pressures at port 2. The CKCFSBN also boasts a proportional pressure-reducing feature that limits the maximum pressure at port 1 to approximately 75% of the pressure at port 2. This model incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction aimed at minimizing potential internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. It supports up to 15 gpm/60 L/min flow capacity and can handle maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi/350 bar. Leakage specifications are impressively low at less than one drop per minute (0.07 cc/min), emphasizing its efficiency in maintaining system integrity. The CKCFSBN's compact design includes a hex size of 7/8 in./22.2 mm and requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft/41-47 Nm, with a modest weight of just .20 lb/0.10 kg. This makes it easily integrable into various hydraulic setups without necessitating significant space or structural adjustments. Its application suitability extends across systems where precise control over load holding is crucial, alongside environments where internal cleanliness and leakage prevention are paramount.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
