The Sun Hydraulics CKCHSDV (CKCHSDV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. It features a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and venting capabilities, enhancing its functionality in various applications. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, with the ability to open from port 1 to port 2 under sufficient external pilot pressure. The required pilot pressure is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, providing a secure and stable operation. The CKCHSDV is distinguished by its insensitivity to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. It incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. This design choice significantly enhances durability and reliability. Additionally, this model has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2, ensuring safer operation under varying pressures. It also features extremely low leakage rates; any significant drift indicates potential seat damage by contamination, suggesting valve replacement might be necessary. With a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min) and maximum operating pressures reaching up to 5000 psi (350 bar), the CKCHSDV is suited for high-performance applications. Its installation requires specific torque settings between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm) and it has a hex size of 7/8 in (22.2 mm), ensuring ease of installation with standard tools. This valve should be considered for service replacements only as new applications are encouraged to use valves from Sun Hydraulics' CVV family for enhanced performance and compatibility with modern hydraulic systems setups.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
