The Sun Hydraulics CKCHSFV (CKCHSFV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications that require a reliable method to prevent load drift and ensure positive load holding. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction, with pressure at the external pilot port opening the valve from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure to open the valve is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, ensuring efficient operation under varying pressure conditions. Featuring a non-sealed pilot with a steel seat and vented design, the CKCHSFV is particularly noted for its low leakage characteristics, critical in applications where maintaining hydraulic integrity is paramount. The spring chamber references the vent port (port 3), making it insensitive to pressure at port 2, which enhances its operational stability. This construction also incorporates Sun’s floating style design that minimizes internal parts binding, which can occur due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The valve's specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), flow capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min), and extremely low leakage rates, ensuring robust performance in demanding environments. With a standard unsealed pilot, it allows trapped air in the pilot line to be purged effectively from the circuit. It should be noted that this model should be considered for service replacements only as new applications are recommended to use valves from Sun Hydraulics' CVV family due to advancements in design and functionality. Moreover, this model features a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure at port 1 to about 75% of that at port 2 under certain conditions, enhancing safety features such as hose break protection. It is essential for users needing reliable check valves in hydraulic circuits where preventing reverse flow or holding loads is necessary while allowing free flow under controlled conditions.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
