The Sun Hydraulics CKCHVBN (CKCHVBN) is a highly efficient pilot-to-open check valve designed to allow free flow from valve port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction. This valve features a non-sealed pilot, steel seat, and venting capabilities, which make it suitable for various hydraulic applications where hose break protection and prevention of load drifting are critical. The external pilot port requires pressure to open the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the necessary pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. This model boasts a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2, enhancing system safety and efficiency. The standard unsealed pilot design allows for effective air purging in the pilot line, ensuring reliable operation. Additionally, its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The CKCHVBN is specifically designed with a T11A cavity and can handle a maximum flow capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and withstand pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It also features extremely low leakage rates, crucial for maintaining system integrity and performance. The valve’s compact size (.20 lb/0.10 kg) and specific installation requirements (30 – 35 lbf ft/41 – 47 Nm torque) make it easy to integrate into various hydraulic systems without extensive modifications. This valve is ideal for applications requiring robust load holding capabilities without motion control functionalities; for motion control needs, counterbalance valves are recommended instead. Its unique features ensure that it provides reliable performance in challenging industrial environments where precision hydraulic control and safety are paramount.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
