The Sun Hydraulics CKEESCN (CKEESCN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the opposite direction. It operates with a sealed pilot and features a Delrin seat, suitable for medium pressure systems that are not subject to high flows or temperatures, thus providing durability in dirty environments. The valve's vented design ensures it is insensitive to pressure at port 2, referencing the spring chamber to the vent port 3, which helps maintain operational stability. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes potential internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min), it meets demanding hydraulic specifications. The pilot ratio of 3:1 indicates that the pilot piston area is three times that of the check poppet seat area, providing efficient operation under varying load pressures. The CKEESCN valve is particularly noted for its low leakage characteristics, essential for applications requiring robust load holding such as hose break protection and prevention of load drifting. It also locks pressurized loads positively, ensuring safety and reliability in operation. However, for motion control applications where modulation of overrunning loads is necessary, counterbalance valves are recommended instead due to this valve's locking nature which does not allow for throttling control. In summary, the Sun Hydraulics CKEESCN valve is an effective solution for systems requiring reliable check functionalities with low leakage and good contamination resistance in moderately harsh environments. Its specialized features make it suitable primarily as a service item within established setups or replacements rather than new system designs.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
