The Sun Hydraulics CKEESCV (CKEESCV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding capabilities. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and restricts flow in the opposite direction, ensuring that loads are held securely and preventing potential drift. The valve's operation is contingent on external pilot pressure at port 3, which must exceed the load pressure at port 1 to initiate opening, with a proportional pilot ratio of 3:1 ensuring responsiveness to varying pressures. Constructed with a Delrin seat, the CKEESCV is particularly suited for medium-pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination; its design minimizes leakage even under such conditions. However, if leakage occurs due to seat damage from debris, replacement of the valve is recommended. Notably, this model incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which enhances durability by minimizing internal part misalignment or binding caused by installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining discrepancies. The valve features a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and can handle flow capacities up to 30 gpm (120 L/min). It also includes a sealed pilot feature which prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage could pose issues. The model's specific configuration as a three-port pilot-to-open check valve means it is not interchangeable with other models that might have different pilot-vent setups, thus requiring careful consideration during system design or replacement. In summary, the Sun Hydraulics CKEESCV offers robust performance for systems requiring precise load control and minimal leakage, particularly in environments where contamination is a concern. Its specialized features make it an essential component for service applications within specified parameters.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
