The Sun Hydraulics CKEESEN (Material Number: CKEESEN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems. This valve facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to the load port 1 while blocking the reverse flow, thereby ensuring one-way fluid movement. The external pilot port activation enables the valve to open from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. A noteworthy feature of this valve is its insensitivity to pressure at port 2, thanks to its spring chamber which references vent port 3. The CKEESEN model boasts a Delrin seat, making it suitable for use in medium-pressure systems that might be exposed to contamination but not high flows or temperatures. This seat composition also contributes to the valve's extremely low leakage characteristics, essential for maintaining system integrity and efficiency. Additionally, the sealed pilot design minimizes cross-port leakage, which is crucial in applications where fluid purity and control are paramount. Designed with a T2A cavity and a series 2 configuration, this valve can handle a maximum flow of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and withstand pressures up to 2500 psi (175 bar). It features a pilot ratio of 3:1, ensuring robust performance under varying load conditions. The installation specifications include a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and an installation torque between 45 - 50 lbf·ft (61 - 68 Nm), with an overall weight of approximately .50 lb (0.25 kg). This model is specifically recommended for applications requiring hose break protection and positive locking of pressurized loads but not suited for motion control applications, where counterbalance valves are preferred. The unique construction minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, further enhancing its reliability and lifespan in hydraulic circuits.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
