The Sun Hydraulics CKEESEV (CKEESEV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic circuits that require reliable load-holding capabilities. This model allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it suitable for applications where precise control over the opening pressure is necessary. The valve's performance remains unaffected by pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. Featuring a Delrin seat, the CKEESEV valve is particularly well-suited for medium-pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination; however, it should not be used in high-flow or high-temperature environments. The sealed pilot design minimizes cross-port leakage, enhancing system integrity especially in applications where such leakage could be detrimental. This model also provides hose break protection and can lock pressurized loads positively, preventing drift and ensuring operational safety. Despite its robust design, if there is load drift due to the valve, this typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating valve replacement. The CKEESEV has a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), can handle flows up to 30 gpm (120 L/min), and features extremely low leakage rates. Its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design which minimizes internal parts binding — a common issue arising from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKEESEV check valve is an effective solution for service replacements within existing systems but new applications should consider using valves from the CVV family which might offer enhanced features or compatibility tailored to modern hydraulic system requirements.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
