The Sun Hydraulics CKEEVCV (Material Number: CKEEVCV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in various applications. It features a sealed pilot and a Delrin seat, which is particularly suitable for medium pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. The valve’s design allows it to be vented, which helps maintain system stability and prevent pressure build-up. The CKEEVCV operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it highly responsive and reliable in maintaining system integrity. This valve also boasts extremely low leakage rates, contributing to its efficiency and reducing potential system losses. Notably, its construction incorporates Sun’s floating style design which minimizes internal parts binding—a common issue caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min), the CKEEVCV is robust enough for various demanding applications. It also features hose break protection and positively locks pressurized loads, enhancing safety and reliability in hydraulic circuits. The valve's installation requires specific torque settings (45 - 50 lbf ft or 61 - 68 Nm) and features a hex size for the valve at 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm). Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKEEVCV check valve is an essential component for systems requiring precise control over fluid flow direction under varying pressure conditions, particularly where contamination and leakage might be concerns.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
