The Sun Hydraulics CKEEVDN (CKEEVDN) is a sophisticated pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load-holding and hose break protection capabilities. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction, ensuring that pressurized loads are locked positively and loads do not drift. The external pilot port controls the opening of the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Notably, this valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. The CKEEVDN features a Delrin seat which makes it suitable for medium-pressure systems that are not exposed to high flows or temperatures but may contain some level of contamination. The design includes a sealed pilot which prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage is undesirable. Moreover, this model incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding—a common issue due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), this valve is engineered for performance in demanding environments. It also boasts extremely low leakage rates, further enhancing its efficiency and reliability in critical applications. The CKEEVDN’s design ensures that even with minimal pilot pressure (as low as 15 psi above vent pressure), the valve remains operational, preventing unintended closures. This model also stands out for its ease of installation with a specific hex size for tightening and recommended torque settings provided, ensuring secure and correct installation to optimize performance and longevity. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKEEVDN check valve is an essential component for systems requiring robust load holding with minimal maintenance and operational reliability.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
