The Sun Hydraulics CKEEVEN (Material Number: CKEEVEN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring a reliable method to maintain load pressure and prevent reverse flow. This valve facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to the load port 1 and blocks flow in the opposite direction, ensuring that pressure at an external pilot port can open the valve from port 1 to port 2. The amount of pilot pressure required to open the valve is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, providing a secure operation as it is insensitive to pressure at port 2 thanks to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. The CKEEVEN features a Delrin seat, making it suitable for medium-pressure systems that may be subject to contamination but not high flows or temperatures. It boasts extremely low leakage characteristics, with any observed load drift likely indicating seat damage due to contamination, which would necessitate valve replacement. This valve is specifically noted for its hose break protection capabilities and its ability to lock pressurized loads securely. Constructed with Sun’s floating style design, the CKEEVEN minimizes potential internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Its specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min), and a pilot ratio of 3:1. The model weighs approximately .50 lb (0.25 kg), with installation requiring specific torque settings between 45 - 50 lbf ft (61 - 68 Nm) and utilizes Viton seals for enhanced performance integrity under various conditions. This three-port pilot-to-open check valve is distinct in its configuration from other similar valves due to its unique pilot-vent setup, making it non-interchangeable with other three-port valves or counterbalance valves that have different configurations. This specificity ensures precise application suitability and operational reliability in designated hydraulic systems.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
