The Sun Hydraulics CKEGSFV (CKEGSFV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed with specific features to enhance its performance in various hydraulic applications. This valve facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction, ensuring efficient operation under different pressure conditions. The use of a non-sealed pilot and a Delrin seat contributes to the valve's ability to handle medium pressure systems that may contain some level of contamination. Notably, the valve's design allows for venting which aids in minimizing pressure build-up and enhances operational safety. The CKEGSFV model has a pilot ratio of 3:1, indicating that the pilot pressure required to open the valve is three times less than the load pressure on the seat, making it efficient in energy use. It supports a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and can handle flows up to 30 gpm (120 L/min), making it suitable for a variety of industrial applications. The incorporation of Sun's floating style construction minimizes potential internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations, promoting longevity and reliability. Additionally, this model offers hose break protection and prevents load drifting by locking pressurized loads effectively. Its standard unsealed pilot aids in purging trapped air from the pilot line, thereby maintaining system integrity. Despite its robustness, it is recommended as a service item only for existing setups, with new applications advised to consider valves from Sun Hydraulics' CVV family for enhanced performance characteristics. This makes the CKEGSFV an essential component particularly suited for replacements or upgrades within established hydraulic systems where medium pressure and moderate contamination are expected.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
