The Sun Hydraulics CKEHSDV (Material Number CKEHSDV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, ensuring efficient operation in systems requiring directional flow control. The external pilot pressure at port 3 allows the valve to open from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. This feature makes it adaptable to varying pressure conditions within a hydraulic circuit. The CKEHSDV valve features a steel seat and non-sealed pilot, enhancing its durability and reliability in various environments. It also incorporates a vented design, which references the spring chamber to the vent port (port 3), making it insensitive to pressure changes at port 2. This design minimizes potential issues related to pressure variations, contributing to stable system performance. Moreover, this model offers extremely low leakage characteristics, crucial for maintaining system integrity and preventing fluid loss. It is particularly useful for applications requiring hose break protection and positive locking of pressurized loads. The standard unsealed pilot configuration allows for effective purging of air trapped in the pilot line, further ensuring operational consistency. Designed with Sun's floating style construction, the CKEHSDV aims to minimize internal part binding that could result from excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This thoughtful engineering enhances the longevity and reliability of the valve under demanding conditions. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min), this valve is equipped to handle substantial hydraulic loads efficiently while maintaining precision control over fluid dynamics within industrial hydraulic systems.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
