The Sun Hydraulics CKGESBV (CKGESBV) is a high-performance, pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring reliable load-holding and hose break protection. This 3-port valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, ensuring secure and efficient operation. The valve opens from port 1 to port 2 when pressure is applied at the external pilot port, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Featuring a Delrin seat, the CKGESBV is particularly suited for medium-pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination; however, it maintains extremely low leakage characteristics. The sealed pilot design prevents undesirable cross-port leakage, enhancing system integrity especially in sensitive applications. Additionally, this valve's design includes a vented spring chamber which references an external vent port (port 3), making it insensitive to backpressure from port 2 and aiding in consistent operational behavior. The CKGESBV is constructed using Sun\u2019s floating style design which minimizes potential internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It offers a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and can handle flows up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). With a pilot ratio of 3:1, it efficiently manages the opening force needed relative to load pressures. This model is specifically beneficial for applications requiring positive locking of pressurized loads without drift, such as mobile hydraulics and industrial machinery. It should be noted that this valve type is not interchangeable with other Sun Hydraulics\u2019 pilot-to-open check valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration, emphasizing the need for precise selection based on specific application requirements.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
