The Sun Hydraulics CKGESCN (CKGESCN) is a high-performance, pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve features a Delrin seat, known for its suitability in medium pressure systems that may contain contaminants, providing a robust seal even in less-than-ideal conditions. The CKGESCN allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring that loads are maintained securely without drifting. With its sealed pilot design, the CKGESCN prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage could be problematic. The valve's operation is dependent on pilot pressure at port 3, which must be slightly higher than the pressure at the vent to keep the valve from closing unexpectedly. Its unique design references the spring chamber to the vent port (port 3), making it insensitive to back pressure from port 2. This model provides extremely low leakage rates and incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It has a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and can handle flows up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The pilot ratio of this valve is set at 3:1, meaning that the pilot piston area is three times that of the check poppet seat area. The CKGESCN is specifically not interchangeable with other 3-port pilot-to-open check valves due to its distinct pilot-vent configuration. For those experiencing issues with load drift due to valve seating damage from contamination, replacement of this unit is recommended rather than repair. This model\u2019s design and specifications make it an essential component for systems needing precise control over load handling while preventing unintentional movement or leakage under varying operational conditions.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
