The Sun Hydraulics CKGESDN (CKGESDN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load at port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It operates with a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage is undesirable. The Delrin seat within the valve caters to systems that are not exposed to high flows or temperatures but may contain some degree of contamination. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), the CKGESDN is robust enough for various medium-pressure applications. The valve's design includes a pilot ratio of 3:1, meaning that the pressure needed at the external pilot port to open the valve is three times less than the load pressure at port 1. This feature is critical in maintaining control over pressurized loads, particularly in preventing drift and ensuring positive locking under pressurized conditions. The CKGESDN also incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This design enhances durability and reliability in demanding operational environments. Furthermore, its vented configuration makes it insensitive to backpressure from port 2, as it references the vent at port 3. This valve's installation requires specific attention to torque settings, with recommended values between 150 - 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm), ensuring secure fitting and optimal performance. Weighing approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), the CKGESDN combines compactness with robust functionality, making it an essential component for hydraulic circuits needing precise backflow prevention and load control.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
