The Sun Hydraulics CKGESDV (CKGESDV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic circuits requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to the load port 1 and blocks flow in the reverse direction, ensuring that loads are held securely and do not drift. It features a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage, making it suitable for applications where cleanliness and leakage prevention are critical. The CKGESDV operates with a Delrin seat which is particularly suitable for medium pressure systems that may contain some level of contamination. This material choice helps to manage minor debris without significant leakage, although severe contamination can damage the seat and cause leakages, necessitating valve replacement. The valve's design incorporates a vented spring chamber, which references an external vent port (port 3), making it insensitive to back pressure from port 2. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), the CKGESDV is robust enough for various industrial applications. The required pilot pressure to open the valve is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, with a pilot ratio of 3:1 ensuring efficient operation under varying pressures. The installation specifications include a hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and an installation torque between 150 -160 lbf ft (203 -217 Nm). This valve's construction utilizes Sun\u2019s floating style design which minimizes potential internal binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, enhancing durability and performance reliability. Notably, this three-port pilot-to-open check valve is not interchangeable with other similar valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration, underscoring the need for precise selection based on specific application requirements.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
