The Sun Hydraulics CKGESFN (CKGESFN) is a 3-port pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring controlled flow and directional management. This model allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in various hydraulic applications. The valve opens from port 1 to port 2 when pressure is applied at the external pilot port, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. It features a Delrin seat, known for its suitability in medium-pressure systems that are not exposed to high flows or temperatures, providing reliability even in environments with some degree of contamination. The CKGESFN valve incorporates a sealed pilot design which prevents undesirable cross-port leakage and is particularly beneficial in applications where hose break protection and prevention of load drifting are critical. The venting through port 3 makes this valve insensitive to pressure changes at port 2, enhancing its performance stability. It also includes Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding, ensuring long-term reliability even under varying installation conditions. This model is engineered with a capacity of up to 60 gpm/240 L/min and can handle a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi/175 bar. Its design ensures extremely low leakage rates which are crucial for maintaining system efficiency and safety. The specific configuration of the CKGESFN means it is not interchangeable with other similar valves, necessitating careful consideration during replacement or system design phases. This valve is ideal for service use in existing systems rather than new applications, where CVV family valves might be more appropriate due to their updated designs and capabilities.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
