The Sun Hydraulics CKGESFV (CKGESFV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow and load holding capabilities. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction. It features a Delrin seat, suitable for systems that are not exposed to high flows or temperatures but require low leakage and resistance to contamination. The valve operates with a pilot pressure that is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, helping prevent unintended movements or drift in the load. Notably, the CKGESFV incorporates a sealed pilot which prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage is undesirable. Its vented design references the spring chamber to vent port 3, ensuring insensitivity to pressure at port 2 and enhancing overall operational stability. For settings where hose break protection or locking pressurized loads is critical, this valve provides an effective solution. Additionally, it offers a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2 under certain conditions. The CKGESFV valve supports a maximum flow capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and can withstand pressures up to 2500 psi (175 bar). It also features extremely low leakage rates which are crucial for maintaining system efficiency and safety. The physical dimensions include a hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and installation torque requirements ranging from 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), with an overall model weight of approximately 1.10 lbs (0.50 kg). This Sun Hydraulics valve leverages floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, ensuring reliable performance and longevity in demanding hydraulic circuits.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
