The Sun Hydraulics CKGEVBN (CKGEVBN) is a high-performance pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load-holding capabilities. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load at port 1, while blocking flow in the opposite direction, ensuring stability and safety in operation. It operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it effective in various hydraulic applications. The CKGEVBN features a Delrin seat which makes it suitable for medium pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination but are not subjected to high flows or temperatures. The valve's construction minimizes internal parts binding, enhancing its durability and performance consistency. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), it is equipped to handle substantial hydraulic loads efficiently. This model incorporates a sealed pilot design, which prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage could be detrimental. The vented configuration of the valve helps in maintaining insensitivity to pressure changes at port 2 by referencing the spring chamber to the vent port 3. Additionally, its design offers hose break protection and positively locks pressurized loads, enhancing operational safety. The CKGEVBN is engineered with a floating style construction from Sun Hydraulics, aimed at reducing potential issues related to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This specific model also emphasizes extremely low leakage characteristics; if any drift occurs due to valve issues, it generally indicates seat damage from contamination which would necessitate valve replacement. Designed specifically for service use within existing systems rather than new applications (which should consider CVV family valves), this model stands out for its robust performance in demanding environments where precision and reliability are critical.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
