The Sun Hydraulics CKGEVBV (CKGEVBV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow and load holding capabilities. It features a sealed pilot and a Delrin seat, making it suitable for medium pressure systems that may encounter dirty conditions. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction, ensuring that loads are held securely and preventing drift. The external pilot port controls the opening of the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The CKGEVBV is particularly noted for its low leakage characteristics, critical in applications where maintaining system integrity is paramount. The valve's design includes a positive seal between ports 2 and 3 and incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding. This feature is crucial for maintaining operational reliability, especially in systems experiencing variations in installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), this valve meets the demands of various hydraulic systems without compromising performance. Its pilot ratio of 3:1 ensures efficient operation by balancing the pilot piston area with the check poppet seat area, providing effective load-holding functionality. This model also includes features like hose break protection and the ability to lock pressurized loads positively, enhancing safety and operational stability. The CKGEVBV is designed with serviceability in mind; however, it should be noted that for new applications, valves from the CVV family are recommended due to their updated features and capabilities.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
