The Sun Hydraulics CKGEVFN (CKGEVFN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications where control of flow direction is necessary. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and blocks flow in the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in various hydraulic systems. The valve features a sealed pilot and a Delrin seat, which enhances its performance in medium pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. The vented design references the spring chamber to the vent port 3, making the valve insensitive to pressure at port 2, thereby stabilizing its operation. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), this valve is capable of handling significant hydraulic loads. It requires pilot pressure proportional to the load pressure at port 1 to open, with a minimum pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) over the vent pressure needed to prevent closure. This makes it suitable for applications requiring hose break protection, load locking under pressurization, and prevention of load drift. The CKGEVFN incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes potential internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This feature ensures reliable performance and longevity of the valve in demanding operational conditions. The specific design details like the positive seal between ports 2 and 3 and extremely low leakage rates further contribute to its efficiency and reliability in hydraulic circuits where leakage could be detrimental. This model is particularly noted for not being physically interchangeable with other 3-port pilot-to-open check valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration, highlighting the need for precise selection based on system requirements. Its robust construction paired with sensitive control capabilities makes it an essential component for specialized hydraulic applications demanding high reliability and precise fluid control.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
