The Sun Hydraulics CKGFSBN (CKGFSBN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring a robust mechanism to prevent reverse flow. This valve enables free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and restricts flow in the opposite direction. A notable feature is its sealed pilot which prevents cross-port leakage, making it suitable for circuits where such leakage could be problematic. The valve\u2019s operation is contingent upon external pilot pressure at port 3, which opens the valve from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, ensuring that the valve responds appropriately to changes in system pressure. This model incorporates a steel seat and a venting system that references the spring chamber to vent port 3, ensuring insensitivity to pressure variations at port 2. It also features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining discrepancies. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), this valve is designed for high-pressure systems. Additional specifications include a T17A cavity, Series 3 designation, and an installation torque range of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) and utilizes Viton seals for enhanced durability under various operating conditions. Furthermore, the CKGFSBN provides hose break protection by positively locking pressurized loads and preventing load drift. Its design ensures extremely low leakage rates; however, if leakage due to load drift occurs, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating replacement of the valve. This model is specifically noted not being interchangeable with other three-port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
