The Sun Hydraulics CKGFSDV (CKGFSDV) is a high-performance pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, ensuring stability and safety in load management. It operates with a pilot pressure that is proportionate to the load pressure at port 1, making it adaptable to varying pressures during operation. The CKGFSDV features a sealed pilot and vented configuration, which minimizes cross-port leakage and is particularly beneficial in applications where such leakage is undesirable. This design also includes a positive seal between ports 2 and 3, enhancing its efficiency and leak resistance. The valve's insensitivity to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3 adds an extra layer of operational stability. Constructed with a steel seat, the CKGFSDV offers robust performance with extremely low leakage rates, crucial for maintaining the integrity of hydraulic systems over time. Its maximum operating pressure capability reaches up to 5000 psi (350 bar), and it can handle flow capacities up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The valve’s design incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which aids in preventing internal parts binding—a common issue caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This model's specific pilot ratio of 3:1 ensures precise control over the opening of the valve under varied load pressures, providing an effective solution for applications requiring strict control over hydraulic flow and pressure conditions. Designed primarily as a service item for existing setups, it offers a reliable replacement option but suggests transitioning new applications to models from the CVV family for enhanced performance features.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

• There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
• These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
• This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
• Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
• Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
• Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
• Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
• Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
• This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
