The Sun Hydraulics CKGFVBN (CKGFVBN) is a highly specialized hydraulic component designed for effective load holding and hose break protection in various hydraulic circuit applications. This pilot-to-open check valve ensures free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, providing a reliable solution for preventing load drift and securely locking pressurized loads. The valve features a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage, making it suitable for circuits where such leakage is undesirable. With a T17A cavity and a Series 3 designation, the CKGFVBN can handle up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The pilot ratio is set at 3:1, indicating that the pilot piston area is three times the check poppet seat area, which affects the pressure dynamics during operation. This valve also features extremely low leakage rates, with maximum valve leakage specified at less than one drop per minute (0.07 cc/min), ensuring efficient performance even under stringent conditions. The valve's hex size is 1 1/4 in (31.8 mm) and requires an installation torque between 150 -160 lbf\u00b7ft (203 -217 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), it uses Viton seals for enhanced durability and resistance against various fluids. The CKGFVBN is engineered not only for efficiency but also for safety in applications requiring robust load control solutions without motion control capabilities; it should be used where counterbalance valves are not applicable due to different operational requirements or configurations.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
