The Sun Hydraulics CKGHSCV (CKGHSCV) is a versatile and robust pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction. The external pilot port, when pressurized, opens the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the pilot pressure required being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. A notable feature of the CKGHSCV is its insensitivity to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. The CKGHSCV incorporates a steel seat which provides extremely low leakage rates, essential for maintaining system integrity and performance. The standard unsealed pilot design of this valve helps in purging trapped air from the pilot line, enhancing operational reliability. It is also equipped with a positive seal between ports 2 and 3 and showcases Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min), this valve is built to handle demanding applications. The CKGHSCV features a T17A cavity, Series 3 compatibility, and has a model weight of approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg). The seal kit for this model uses Viton components, ensuring durability under various operating conditions. This valve should be considered as a service item only in existing systems; for new applications, valves from the CVV family are recommended due to their updated designs and capabilities. The CKGHSCV's design also offers hose break protection and positively locks pressurized loads, making it an ideal choice for applications where safety and reliability are paramount.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
