The Sun Hydraulics CKGHVEV (CKGHVEV) is a pilot-to-open check valve with specific design features that cater to varied hydraulic system needs. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in hydraulic circuits. It operates with a non-sealed pilot and a steel seat, enhancing durability and reliability in various applications. The external pilot pressure required to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it adaptable to different pressure scenarios. The CKGHVEV incorporates a vented design through port 3, which references the spring chamber and helps maintain insensitivity to pressure changes at port 2. This feature is crucial for applications where pressure fluctuation is common. Additionally, the valve provides hose break protection and prevents load drifting, which are essential for maintaining system integrity and safety. Its standard unsealed pilot facilitates air purging from the pilot line, further enhancing operational reliability. With a maximum operating capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve is suited for high-flow and high-pressure environments. The proportional pressure reducing characteristic of this model limits the pressure at port 1 to about 75% of that at port 2 under specific conditions, adding an extra layer of control in pressure management. Designed with Sun’s floating style construction, the CKGHVEV minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This feature ensures consistent performance and longevity of the valve even under challenging installation conditions. The CKGHVEV model weighs approximately 1.10 lbs (0.50 kg) and requires an installation torque between 150 – 160 lbf ft (203 – 217 Nm), making it robust yet manageable within its intended industrial applications.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

• There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
• These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
• This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
• Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
• Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
• Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
• Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
• Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
• This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
