The Sun Hydraulics CKIESBN (CKIESBN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow and load holding capabilities. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in various hydraulic systems. The external pilot port pressure opens the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Notably, this valve features a Delrin seat which makes it suitable for use in medium-pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. The CKIESBN has a unique construction that includes a sealed pilot, minimizing cross-port leakage and enhancing system integrity. It also incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This design feature aids in maintaining consistent performance and extending the valve's operational life. With its vented configuration, this valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because its spring chamber references the vent port (port 3), providing a positive seal between ports 2 and 3. Additionally, it offers hose break protection and prevents load drifting by positively locking pressurized loads. The technical specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), a capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), and an extremely low leakage rate at maximum valve leakage of only about one drop per minute (0.07 cc/min). The CKIESBN is designed with robustness in mind, featuring a hex size of 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm) and requiring an installation torque between 350 -375 lbf ft (474 -508 Nm). Its compact model weight is approximately 2.80 lb (1.30 kg). This valve is particularly useful for applications where precise hydraulic fluid control and reliability are paramount, making it an essential component in maintaining efficient and safe hydraulic operations.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
