The Sun Hydraulics CKIESBV (CKIESBV) is a highly specialized hydraulic component designed for effective load management in hydraulic systems. As a pilot-to-open check valve, it facilitates free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking the reverse flow, ensuring operational security and efficiency. The valve's operation is contingent on pressure at an external pilot port which opens the flow from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. This feature makes it particularly useful in applications where hose break protection and prevention of load drift are crucial. Constructed with a Delrin seat, the CKIESBV is tailored for medium-pressure systems that may be exposed to contamination but not high flows or extreme temperatures. The valve's design incorporates a sealed pilot to prevent undesirable cross-port leakage, enhancing system integrity especially in sensitive applications. Moreover, its venting capability through port 3 ensures that it remains insensitive to back pressures at port 2, which could otherwise compromise its performance. The valve’s specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar), and a flow capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), making it suitable for substantial hydraulic loads. Additionally, its pilot ratio of 3:1 allows for precise control over the opening mechanism based on varying load pressures. With minimal leakage characteristics—less than one drop per minute—it offers reliability even in demanding operational conditions. Sun Hydraulics' CKIESBV is also noted for its robust construction featuring Sun’s floating style design which minimizes internal binding caused by installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This ensures long-term reliability and performance consistency across various hydraulic applications without the need for frequent replacements or maintenance interventions due to internal misalignments or jams.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

• There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
• These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
• This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
• Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
• Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
• Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
• Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
• The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
• Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
• This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
