The Sun Hydraulics CKIESFN (CKIESFN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems, offering robust functionality in controlling flow direction under various pressure conditions. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to load port 1 and prevents reverse flow, ensuring operational safety and efficiency. The valve's operation is influenced by external pilot pressure which opens the flow from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Notably, this model features a Delrin seat that makes it suitable for medium-pressure systems that are not exposed to high flows or temperatures and ensures low leakage rates even in environments with potential contamination. The CKIESFN valve is characterized by its vented design, where the spring chamber references vent port 3, making it insensitive to the pressure at port 2 and providing a positive seal between ports 2 and 3. It also incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding—a common issue caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations of cavity/cartridge. With a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), this valve is designed for substantial hydraulic tasks. The pilot ratio of 3:1 indicates that the area of the pilot piston is three times that of the check poppet seat area, impacting how the valve responds under varying pressures. Furthermore, this model's design considerations include minimized leakage potential—crucial for maintaining system integrity and preventing load drifts. In summary, Sun Hydraulics’ CKIESFN offers an efficient solution for hydraulic systems requiring reliable directional control and load holding capabilities, especially in applications susceptible to contamination where low leakage and durable seat materials are essential.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

• There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
• These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
• This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
• Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
• Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
• Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
• Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
• The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
• Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
• This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
