The Sun Hydraulics CKIESFV (CKIESFV) is a high-performance pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to load port 1, while blocking flow in the opposite direction. The external pilot port, when pressurized, allows for opening from port 1 to port 2, with the pilot pressure needed for operation proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The design features a Delrin seat suitable for medium pressure systems that are not subject to high flows or temperatures, ensuring durability even in environments with some degree of contamination. The CKIESFV valve boasts a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi (175 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), making it suitable for various hydraulic systems. Its sealed pilot design minimizes cross-port leakage, enhancing system integrity especially where such leakage is undesirable. The valve's vented configuration references the spring chamber to vent port 3, ensuring insensitivity to pressure changes at port 2 and contributing to stable operation. Additionally, this model incorporates Sun's floating style construction which helps prevent internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This feature is crucial in maintaining consistent performance and longevity of the valve under varying operational conditions. The CKIESFV model also has an extremely low leakage rate which contributes significantly to maintaining system efficiency and safety. This specific model is not interchangeable with other 3-port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to its unique pilot-vent configuration, necessitating careful consideration during system design or replacement procedures. It is recommended primarily as a service item in existing applications rather than new installations where CVV family valves may be more appropriate.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
