The Sun Hydraulics CKIEVBV (CKIEVBV) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring dependable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to the load port 1 while blocking flow in the opposite direction, ensuring that pressurized loads are positively locked and loads do not drift. The valve's operation is contingent on the pressure at the external pilot port, which opens the pathway from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure to open the valve is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, with a minimum pilot pressure of approximately 15 psi above vent pressure needed to prevent closure. Featuring a sealed pilot configuration, this valve is ideal for applications where cross-port leakage is undesirable. It incorporates a Delrin seat which makes it suitable for medium-pressure systems that may contain some level of contamination but are not subject to high flows or temperatures. It boasts extremely low leakage characteristics; however, if any drifting occurs due to the valve, it suggests potential seat damage from contamination, necessitating replacement. The CKIEVBV has a maximum operating capacity of 120 gpm/480 L/min and can withstand pressures up to 2500 psi/175 bar. Its design utilizes Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model also features a unique pilot-vent configuration making it physically non-interchangeable with other models in its category. With its robust construction and precise operation capabilities, the CKIEVBV serves as an essential component for systems needing reliable check functionalities under varying hydraulic conditions while providing ease of maintenance and installation due to its standardized cavity (T19A) and series (4) compatibility.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
