The Sun Hydraulics CKIFSFV (CKIFSFV) is a three-port pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow and load holding. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction. It features a sealed pilot to prevent cross-port leakage and utilizes a steel seat for durability. The external pilot port, when pressurized, opens the valve from port 1 to port 2, with the required pilot pressure being directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The CKIFSFV is specifically engineered to be insensitive to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing vent port 3. This configuration ensures a positive seal between ports 2 and 3 and exhibits extremely low leakage characteristics, making it suitable for applications where hose break protection and prevention of load drifting are critical. Notably, this valve is not intended as a motion control device; for such applications, counterbalance valves are recommended. This model incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes potential internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), the CKIFSFV meets demanding hydraulic specifications. It has a pilot ratio of 3:1 and features minimal valve leakage at high fluid viscosity, ensuring reliable operation even under stringent conditions. In terms of installation, this valve requires specific torque settings (350 -375 lbf ft or 474 -508 Nm) and has a hex size of 1\u215d inches (41.3 mm). Weighing approximately 2.80 lbs (1.30 kg), it is robust yet manageable in size for various system configurations. The CKIFSFV is recommended as a service item only with new applications advised to consider valves from the CVV family due to their updated features and compatibility.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
